WHY WOULD I WANT TO ROAST MY OWN COFFEE

FRESHNESS.

There is much discussion out there on the web about this and everyone has an opinion.

Coffee is at it's peak for a week! That's a fact and after that Quality drops. So to bring quality to your customers you have to roast your our own coffee.

WHY?

After roasting the coffee beans the beans release CO2 (carbon dioxide) as long as the bean releases CO2, all is fine. Once the bean does not have any CO2 left, the outward pressure that preserved the aromas ceases. Once that happens outside pressure will enter the bean and with it oxygen. Immediately oxidation begins and the taste of the coffee changes. A coffee bean is like a one way valve. Inside the bean is pressure, so once that pressure has stopped, the smell changes and it does not smell like fresh roasted coffee anymore. A dramatic change in flavour, undrinkable for people used to freshly roasted coffee.

People are so used to drinking stale coffee that once they try fresh coffee they are so surprised and say that's one of the best coffees I ever had.

Don't you want to hear that all the time? If so - you have to roast your own beans.

QUALITY CONTROL.

The best restaurants make everything themselves, sauces, stocks, bread to make sure that their customers have a perfect experience. And not only that, but making your own creations means that it is unique and only to be had here, in the house.

Of course you must be certain the coffee you are roasting is better than that which is available wholesale elsewhere. That is not so difficult to achieve, because the roast is fresh. With RoastMaxToryou can reproduce the same roast over and over. And that to the same specifications without you having to pay any attention to it once your roasting profile is set.

Baristas are so detailed in their steps to make sure that they get the perfect shot, but they buy roasted beans over they have little control over.

For a Barista to be 100% competent, he needs to purchase green beans and roast himself in the shop.

"Roasting is an art" I heard that many times, but it is not that roasting is an art, it is an art to control the roasting machine, because it is not controllable. We changed that by designing RoastMaxTor.

PROFITABILITY.

It will be more profitable for you to buy raw beans and roast the coffee yourself than it will be to buy roasted. Roasting your own coffee opens a new vertical market: the ability to sell wholesale coffee for profit. You as the roaster, it may become a new profitable part of your business and has the potential to become the largest profit centre. You have a new market such as restaurants, other coffee shops, offices, and so on and your investment is marginal compared to your potential revenues. You control the price of your product and that is important so you can position it where you want it to be.

BRAND IMAGE.

Roasting your own coffee ensures that you have something that is not available elsewhere. The control of all elements is important: the green coffee, properly roasted, blended, packaged, etc. this can be a big competitive advantage. Controlling the roasting side of your business gives you competence, your product, (you made it) adds credibility that you know what you’re talking about with your customers.

At the end you will say well yes but I have never roasted before and I have no knowledge how to go about it. Well I say when was the last time you did something for the first time? Learning the basics of roasting coffee is not that difficult, it involves the same knowledge volume then grilling meats. You have the basic product and you are applying heat to it until it is perfectly roasted, that's about it. There are no set rules on how coffee has to taste, it is always up to the roaster to make the most out of the beans he purchased. Great micro roasters are like great chefs, they love what they are doing and they do it well, they call themselves Roast Masters.

RoastMaxTor is a machine that reproduces the same roasting specifications over and over again.

Once you have your roasting profile set for a specific bean it will reproduce the same quality no matter what the environment conditions are. Our experience is that our customers are roasting great coffees in no time and don't be shy and ask us if you have questions. We will make it easy for you as you are buying a Roast Master with your roaster.

If you have a plan for the future in the coffee business, roasting is the way, the only way, to go.
